New Rule: Tame your Passionate PDA's or face Jail
Oscar | Jan 20 2009

Thay say a “kiss is just a kiss”, or is it? Have you ever been out in public with your kids and happen upon a young couple showing eachother their “undying love“?

I have. Last week, my wife and took the kids to the cinema. It was a beautiful day, one of those rare moments when the entire family and our moods fell perfectly into sync; we were happy, giddy, without a care in the world. I had just finished paying for the tickets and turned to see my ten year old daughter, Isa, enthralled in a free live show being given by a young couple on the cinema waiting area couch.

I quickly grabbed my daughter, hoping she hadn’t really taken in the full scene, of course, it was too late. I could see Isa’s mind racing as she stood wide eyed and blurted out “Did you see that, he had his tongue in her mouth and their hands were everywhere, they looked like one big octopus. Gross!”

I was furious and my wife was rabid. She had squared off and had almost made it to the unknowing couple before I caught up with her and dragged her back in line. “What the hell! If I wanted Isa to watch porn, I’d pay for PAY PER VIEW and throw her a slumber party.” she fumed. “I’d love to find their parents and let them know what a fine job they’ve done in raising a bunch of exhibitionist.” she ranted. So much for the family moods in perfect sync, although the boys were unfazed, I was angry, my wife wanted blood, and my daughter kept repeating how the boy had his tongue “like so far in her mouth I thought the girl would choke.”

Some might consider me old fashioned, but I was taught such acts were not meant for public display. Don’t get me wrong. I love passion, and I will not even begin the debate on whether or not young love is real or not, but I have two very big issues with what I find happening more and more ofton in family parks, theaters, and on the streets. First of all, my wife and I have worked hard to maintain morals and values in our children. Our sons are old enough to look past what they see, but my daughter and other children do not need to be subjected to ones unbridled passion. Secondly, I find it disrespectful to the girl or woman involved, even if they, themselves, have no objections.

So, what are our choices in today’s society? The way I look at it, we have three. We could: a)Confine ourselves to our home b)I could let my enfuriated wife loose on every young lover she locked into her sights performing “unappropriate acts in public” or c)we could pack up and move to Guanajuato.

The city government in Guanajuato, Mexico, is threatening to jail couples found kissing in public.

The conservative mayor of Guanajuato says he is on a mission to improve values and civility in the city.

A light kiss or embrace will still be acceptable, but couples that indulged in what he called “Olympian grappling” could face a fine or up to three days in prison.

The mayor is also vowing to crackdown on excessive/harsh swearing in public, street vendors and beggers. Although protestors are claiming the new rule is a return of the Spanish Inquisition, I’ve got to admit, I like it. I am man who is all for love, I just want each to have their own love. If you are a lover of PDA, take no offense, just be a little more stingy; you can love all you like, in private.
